Since this blog has been reduced to seasonal updates, I think we should call this one what it is: wedding season. Anne & Josh had a beautiful wedding in Traverse City, and asked me to take some photos with my Diana. Of course, I obliged. More photos can be seen in their gallery.

I have a spare multi-tasking moment, so I can share another out of season photograph with you. This one was taken while strolling about the neighborhood last December and admiring the few Southern California leaves that change color. Now that we’re ramping up for summer, and it’s six months later, hopefully I’ll start getting back in season!

For the first time in a long while I had some film to be developed. This was one of the rolls that languished in my Diana while I worked on other things. Despite this, I like some of the images that were on the roll. Now that I’ve seen these, I’m thinking about running a few more rolls of color film through the Diana and see what else comes out.

As part of my resolution this year, I have been trying to get my work seen by more people. This has included applying to a handful of shows and reviews. Most recently, Aline Smithson was looking for photographers whose work was not accepted into Review Santa Fe. I sent my work to her, and yesterday she featured it on her site. Go check it out, and have a look at the other photographers she features!

augusta announcement for august

Upon returning home after some summer travels in Northern California, I learned that one of my Mobile Landscape photographs has been accepted into an exhibition. Hooray! The show is a juried show called A Sense of Place, which is being held at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art from September 18 - October 16. I’m also excited that the juror for the exhibition is Philip Brookman, the Chief Curator and Head of Research at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in DC. He has curated shows of the works of Sally Mann and Wendy Ewald, two women who I consider great influences on my work - although it is not very evident in the Mobile Landcapes.

I won’t be able to attend the show, but I’m thrilled that my photo will. If you’re near Augusta this fall, consider dropping by!
