In most of my photographic works, I attempt to document a emotional or physical place. Usually the space I try to capture is somewhat intangible, such as a moment of flight in mid-jump, how children slowly transform into adolescents, or how daily commutes become personal motifs. Change, curiosity, learning, transformation, and growth are all concepts I pursue photographically, as well as in daily life.

My love for photography began in high school; in college, I

majored in Studio Arts and Photography at Scripps College and studied at the Burren College of Art in Ireland. My work has been shown in galleries in South Pasadena, San Francisco, Long Beach, and Claremont, California as well as in Ballyvaughan, County Clare, Ireland. This fall one of my Mobile Landscapes will be on display at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art in Georgia. Additionally, I was a semi-finalist for the Center of Documentary Studiesʼ 25 Under 25 in 2006; a panelist about HIV-related art at Scripps College in 2003, and a commissioned photographer for the Millennium Project in Lisdoonvarna, Ireland in 2001.

Some of my work is represented online at giveArtfully.com.

There’s also a delightful color photograph of “Gravity” in which Lisa Avery takes a picture of herself jumping up in the air above a field of glorious spring wildflowers.
